THE PAINTED DESERT

I had visited the Painted Desert, the northernmost part of Petrified Forest National Park, once a few years before, but the sun was too high in the sky on the day of that previous visit, washing out the colors. This time around, I was able to see it during the sunset hour when the colors and shadows really light up the landscape.

The photographs in this photo tour were taken in December of 2006. They highlight the Painted Desert area of Petrified Forest National Park. Related links for Petrified Forest National Park are listed near the bottom of this page.
